Autistic School Project, 2004
During 2004 and 2005 the Club undertook two projects on behalf of the Autistic School at 61 Jagellonska Street, in Szczecin.
Autism is a complex developmental disability that typically appears during the first three years of life. The result of a neurological disorder that affects the functioning of the brain, autism impacts on the normal development of the brain in the areas of social interaction and communication skills. Children with autism typically have difficulties in verbal and non-verbal communication and hence learning, leisure or play activities.
Hygiene for those children is very important, because some of them have problems with poor bladder & bowel movements control.
The first stage was to completely renovate the toilets and hygiene care areas.
Following the successful completion of this stage the second part - refurbishing the eating and entrance hall was undertaken.
Funds were raised with support from the parents and local businesses and the work was organised by the Club members. A better, cleaner environment has been provided for the children's education.
